    Hi,

For ducts, the duct and leakage network structure is built and fixed at the moment of the duct creation. When you create a new duct, if you don't specify any leakage then the leakage connections are not needed, so they aren't built. They can't be added in later. Similarly, the offsets relate to the network structure and can not be modified through the Duct Builder.

So you need to specify some leakage when the duct is built. If you do this, then the option to modify it later will be available.

You can move the ducts using the Move Tool, but if you do so, you may change the lengths of the duct and interval distances, meaning that you could change the leakage porosity. You might also accidentally detach the leakage connections.

But you shouldn't have to change the offsets very often; they are only for visual purposes and have no effect on the simulation. If you really need to change the offset of the ducts, then it's probably better to rebuild the duct.

    Hi,

It does not allow you to change the leakage for a part of the duct eventhough you specify some leakage when the duct is built. Attached file "1" is the Duct Edit box when we select the entire duct. It allows you to modify the Leakage Porosity. Attached file "2" is the Duct Edit box when we select some parts of the duct. It doesn't allow you to change the porosity. The reason we ask this to be enabled is that as I said in my earlier post, a branch of a duct network sometimes needed to be modified hence its leakage porosity changes.

The suggestion for leakeage and offset is just to make the software more user friendly, in any case if it doesn't change, we always rebuild the duct to be certain that we don't accidentally detach something.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi,

We can't modify a vent duct line's Leakage Porosity, Leakage Intervals etc. as shown in attached picture.

In underground operations, we sometimes need to change intervals of a branch of vent ducts or some portion of vent duct leakage porosity is better or worse than rest. We need to partially modify leakage porosity, intervals etc. (in short, grayed attributes) of vent ducts.

In addition to this, it would be useful to modify the offsets of a vent duct as a group. In order to change the offset, we have to remove the vent duct, re construct it.

    Thanks a lot.

    C.

  3. Hi,

Just a quick update that may affect on the solution.

The vanished airways seem to be the ones which we last edit on previous SAVE. For example, if I remove an obstruct/regulator or something over airway ID 650, or modify the settings of a fan working on airway ID 700, the next time I open the file airways ID650 and 700 vanish.

This seems to also lead to the Airway Shape Randomly Changes Bug as well.

I hope this can give an insight to the bug.

    Cihan

    Hi,

Are you using the latest version (5.4.0.5)?

I will try to recreate the issue and see what the fix will be. Are you able to email the file to us at ventsim.support@howden.com (or just part of the file with the airway)?

    Regards,

    Craig

Hi Craig, yes I use the latest version 5.4.0.5 and I have just sent you the model.

    Thanks.

  5. Hi,

In my model there is a rounded shaft with 8m diameter. However, when I simulate, VentSIM automatically changes it to 7,16m. No matter what I do, fix it, save it and re-simulate, It converts it back to 7,16m.

Interestingly, there is a question mark next to the Diameter attribute on EDIT box, when I click on it a pop-up comes and it says:

    "Number Unique 200458 : , Length  799,9 m

8,0 m Diameter Current Size Dimensions

4,3 m Diameter Recommended Size Dimensions

    Click window for more information"

This is a fixed airway already excavated and I cannot change it. On previous versions of VentSIM this didn't happen.

    Thanks.

Hi, we've fixed up one problem in relation to the paste airways function. Could you please download the latest patch (version 5.2.7.1) from the following page and check again.

    https://ventsim.com/download/minor-releases/

If the problem still occurs could you please tell us how many airways are disappearing? Also, to make it easier for us to isolate the problem, if possible send us the models for which you're seeing this problem, to ventsim.support@howden.com

    Thanks,

    Martin

    Hi Martin,

This problem still occurs with the most recent version. I have sent you the model for your check. Waiting feedback.

  7. Dear John,

I agree with Mick. Besides, in old version when we press ESC button the EDIT box disappears. However, in this new version of the software, even you use old version of EDIT box, when you finish your editing and press ESC, the EDIT box does not disappear. Instead, it shades away but remains on screen. It is quite a bit annoying and is not user friendly when you deal with lots of airways.

I hope you have plans to modify this feature.

  8. Hi,

When we make an air simulation after changing the fan type/quantity or any other specification, the EDIT box is not updated. It keeps showing the old settings.

You can see attached picture. Previous setting was with 2 fans in parallel, however when we change the setting for 1 fan, it keeps showing outcomes of setting for 2 fans in parallel.

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Hi Florian,

The problem is not hidden airways or model. We experience similar problems in different models at different computers. Sometimes airways vanish, sometimes vent ducts. An additional problem is that friction factor of ducts change randomly to custom and when we try to select "flexible duct" again, it automatically makes it 29 kg/m3 instead of 0.0029.

Many other problems we encounter with new version, it is more like an Alpha version instead of stable release. It is a bit frustrating.

  10. Hello.

I have VentSim Design Premium Full License Version 5.1.1.0 64 bit.

When I copy and paste airways to another VentSim file, some of the copied airways are vanishing when I click "Air Simulation" button. Ctrl+Z brings them back but they vanish all the time I refresh air simulation.

    Any help will be appreciated.
