Connecting to SQL Server with Ventsim Design Premium Full License Version 6.02.6 64 bit

I have Vensim running on a laptop on the same subnet as the server.

When I go to the following I get the Surveyed Data Screen.

Connect/VentLog/Connect

I then click on the Connect to SQL Server button

I have put in the IP address of the SQL server and hit the ... button and Ventsim can't see the SQL Server
I have put in the Name of the SQL serve and hit the ... button and Ventsim can't see the SQL Server

I can remote into the SQL Server and run queries from the same laptop that is running Ventsim.

What am I missing?

Hi Steve,

Can you send a screenshot of the connection form through to our support email ventsim.support@howden.com and I will be able to help better.

2 things I can think of:

  • Security option: Do you have the authentication method set correctly?
  • Database selection: You will also need to choose a Ventlog database to connect to that is already on that server as Ventsim doesn't create the database itself. If you need one setup, I can email you a script to build one. Email our support email for this.

When I was doing this last week I put in every possible combination of username and password as is possible. I also had our IT person work with it as well and we determined it was a ventsim software issue, which is why I am in communication with you now. Attached are information that is used to connect to our SQL server.

Hi,

You will need a Ventlog Database on the server, it can't connect to an SQL Server without one.

Contact our support email (ventsim.support@howden.com) and I will email you a SQL script to build the Ventlog database on the server.  Once that is in place you can begin creating Ventlog stations and adding records to it.
