Can filters trap mold spores that continue to release mycotoxins in apartments?

I'm wondering whether filters in balanced ventilation systems can accumulate mold that are still alive inside the filters, and produce mycotoxins that reach the apartments? Mycotoxins are quite small maybe 0.1 microns.

 

In advanced airpurifiers, the contents trapped in a filter e.g. mold spores and viruses are killed with uv light or other mechanisms. Is there typically any similar process in a balanced ventilation system for apartments?
