Anna Ayres
Does anyone know how to model a jet fan in a dead-end heading, similar to the following diagram? Thank you.
Florian Michelin
Hi, This is a bit complicated as, Ventsim typically doesnt simulate flow in dead ends, even when using a duct, the simulation assume that past the end of the duct, there is no airflow. However there is a few way you can try. It might depends on the application, what are you trying to achieve: include all the fans in the model or simulating the airflow in the dead end? John Bowling
I've thought about this too, and considered splitting the airway horizontally just as Create Rollback splits an airway vertically. The reason why I've wanted to do this was to do blast dispersion/re-entry simulation in large-opening room and pillar mines.
Florian Michelin
Just splitting will likely give poor results, I would recommend to include some auto shock loss so the air tends to go in the direction of the velocity. Even then you would need to somehow calibrate it, maybe matching the profile of CFD simulation? In any case splitting will be a rough approximation, even with shock loss included and calibration is key.
